When people ask me what kind of books I write, I generally answer "nerdy teen chicklit" - which seems the best way to describe Pink and The Not Quite Perfect Boyfriend, and also the two that I'm working on at the moment. Scatterheart is probably historical romance fairy tale YA. And I don't even know where to begin with Angel Fish. Let's just say historical fiction. But that kind of means that I'm also a romance writer*! How strange and exciting!
Next week is the Wheeler Centre's week of Love & Lust, and I'm speaking on a panel called A Fine Romance: Beyond the Bodice Ripper. It's chaired by Alan Brough and will also feature Stephanie Laurens, who is one of Australia's highest-selling authors, and Marion Lennox, who is a Queen of Mills & Boon.
Come along and join in!
The Wheeler Centre Auditorium, 6:15PM - 7:15PM, Tuesday 06 July 2010
*The great thing about YA is that you can write whatever kind of genre or genre-mashup you like, because it'll always just be YA and nobody will freak out.
